Classroom Decorating Ideas

Are you ready?
Back to School season is upon us!
If I’m being honest...it’s not really a season for me.
I’ve been thinking about the new school year before last year even ended!
You can’t turn off a teacher brain!

The first thing I always start thinking about….whether or not I should...is how I want to set my classroom up.  I first start thinking logistics...I wrote a post on how I set up my entire classroom in 2 hours.

But then I move on to decor.  I go through phases every couple of years, I start to feel the urge to change.

Classroom Decorating Ideas

Here’s a look back at my classroom themes in years past....from bees, to beach, to colors...I have no idea where the pictures are from my first 2 years teaching...and you'll see that some years I wasn't very good at even taking pictures! Looking at other teachers' classrooms is one of my favorite ways to get ideas!!

I also have a couple of blog post where I shared my classrooms pictures for a more detailed look. Check those out here and here.  It’s funny to see how my style has evolved.

Several years ago, I settled on just having a color theme.  It was one of the best decisions I made, because I didn’t have to invest in so much when I decided to change.

When I was first moving into the classroom I’m currently in, I had grand ideas for a navy and burlap theme.  I even created my own printable decor for it!  But everywhere I went that summer...I found black instead of navy! Of course, two summers later...it’s everywhere now!  I guess I was ahead of the curve!

So I kept my black & teal theme.  But here we are again, and I’m feeling the itch and I’m wanting to add more color!  So now that I've realized my problem pattern...I decided to create some decor that I could use with any color!  And it would only cost me in Astrobrights paper!!

Now in a few years, when I change colors...it’ll just require me to print a few things out and I’ll be good to go!! Plus it will save me colored ink too! That’s a win-win in my opinion!
