First Week Lesson Plans + Resources

One of my favorite parts of the new school year is setting up the classroom!  I love spending the time organizing, crafting, etc.  But I quickly learned that having the most adorable classroom does not make for a well run classroom!  It's the first days of school that set your year up for success!  I wanted to share with you my first week lessons plans because I know that it can sometimes be the hardest week to plan!

It's hard to plan the first week because you need to be teaching all your routines and procedures and you're not quite ready to dive into the curriculum.  I have used the plans pretty much for the last 3 years!  I always like to add in new books and activities, but it overall stays the same.

Here's a look at the first week of school...

I usually print out my plans and put it on my table, but let's be honest, those first days are cRaZy and I kept losing it!  So I came up with an alternative that has saved my life! I created a PowerPoint that basically goes through my lesson plans exactly.  It has slides to welcome and introduce myself, teach procedures, and even slides that remind me to read a certain book or do a certain activity!  It's pretty much the bomb.com!I have them available in my store both the black and white version.

Consensograms are one of my favorite ways to get kids up and moving the first days while learning about your students.  It's similar to scoot, where kids rotate around the room.  I give each student a set of stickers and send one group of kids to each chart.  They read the chart and place their sticker accordingly.  Then on my signal, they rotate to the next chart until they've placed a sticker on every chart.
